TextLimit guides

Guides for text limits.

Use these notes when the count matters but the platform does not explain what it is counting.

Characters are not always what people see

Emoji, accented letters, and combined characters can behave differently across systems. TextLimit shows visible graphemes, code points, and bytes so you can spot the difference before a strict field rejects your text.

SMS limits depend on encoding

A short message can become longer when it uses Unicode characters, smart quotes, emoji, or symbols outside GSM-7. That can change how many SMS segments are sent.

SEO snippets are only estimates

Search engines can rewrite titles and descriptions, and truncation can depend on pixel width. A counter helps you draft cleaner text, but clarity matters more than hitting one magic number.

Good text-limit workflow

  • Paste the exact text you plan to use.
  • Choose the platform or field limit that matches the destination.
  • Check characters, words, bytes, and warnings together.
  • Copy only after the result clearly passes the target.
